Conversations with a twist

Conversations with a Twist is the Children's Hospital Association's yearly event that raises funds to support programs and services at Children's Minnesota. Attendees are invited to learn about CHA's mission and hear panel speakers discuss current trends and topics in children's healthcare in Minnesota.

The event branding needed to resonate with CHA's mission and tone, balancing a playful, childlike spirit with a professional and engaging appeal. The only specific request was to incorporate a "twist" element, suggesting using a lemon twist as inspiration. The challenge evident in previous years was to have branding that felt like an extension of and resonated with CHA while holding a strong presence to stand as its own event.

To address this, I developed a concept that captured CHA's lighthearted and fun approach while ensuring a refined tone. I incorporated hand-drawn elements like flowing lines to evoke movement and progress. The logo design integrated three symbols:

  • Bubble: Representing thoughts and conversation.

  • Ellipse: Signifying an ongoing dialogue or continuing story.

  • Lemon: A playful reference to the "twist" concept, often seen in drinks.

This thoughtful approach allowed me to develop a cohesive brand identity that not only reflected CHA's mission but also set the stage for an engaging and memorable event.
